Design build project for student competition at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CA. Competition premise was to design and build an overnight structure while requiring the participants to carry materials into the valley (~1 Mi.) from the school parking lots, and build the design to sleep in for the 2 nights of the competition. The design had to be light weight, site adaptable, and quick enough to build. The theme was make, move, play. Our approach was inspired by the bee culture and beehives. We designed 5 sleeping pods to telescope from the hill to frame the views.
